The use of neuro-imaging to combat neurological conditions

An exciting opportunity to learn how modern brain imaging techniques are contributing to groundbreaking progress in the management of neurological conditions.

Professor Steve Williams will talk on the role of neuroimaging (the imaging of the brain function/structure) in current management of neurological conditions.

Today, treating many neurological and psychiatric disorders still remains a global challenge because of limited access to the underlying biology of these conditions. Contemporary imaging methods now provide a new window into the structure, function, and chemistry of the human brain.

Professor Steve Williams, from the world-ranking Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience at King's College, London University, is one of the world’s leading researchers in the field of brain imaging. During the talk he will show how recent progress is helping to make far reaching assessments of complex conditions such as autism, dementia, multiple sclerosis, all of which now represent rapidly increasing health burdens on modern society.

King’s College, London University, was founded by King George IV, and the Duke of Wellington, in 1829.  Professor. William’s talk will take place in the College’s elegant Council Room at King’s historic site on the Strand, only 5 minutes walk from Trafalgar Square. 

During the second World War, KCL students were evacuated from London and were offered premises, and hospitality, by the University of Bristol, possibly on the instructions of Sir Winston Churchill, the then Prime Minister, who was also Bristol University's Chancellor at the time.

• What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?
• London Underground is probably best. Temple station is closest. Alternatively, Blackfriars, Embankment and Covent Garden are within walking distance.

• What's the refund policy?
• No refunds after 21 March 2017 noon.

• Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
• Not necessarily, but it helps. Showing the ticket on a phone is fine. Save the trees.

• Can I update my registration information?
• Yes, before 21 March 2017 noon. Just email the organiser with your order number and enough information as to the change you'd like to make.

• Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?
• Yes, but please bring a printed ticket if this is the case. Or email in advance so we know who to expect.
